6th Bi - Annual  Retreat

The 6th Bi-Annual Private Sector CEO Retreat convened senior government officials, private sector leaders, development partners, investors, and tourism stakeholders to advance Uganda's vision of becoming a preferred tourism destination. Held in Fort Portal Tourism City, the Retreat provided a platform for strategic dialogue on strengthening public-private collaboration, promoting investment, improving tourism infrastructure, enhancing destination marketing, and leveraging innovation to unlock the full potential of the tourism sector.

Under the theme "Transforming Uganda into a Preferred Tourism Destination," participants examined opportunities and challenges across the tourism value chain. They developed actionable recommendations aimed at increasing competitiveness, attracting investment, creating jobs, and contributing to Uganda's socio-economic transformation.

Tourism Stakeholders Validate Progress on the Resolutions of the 6th Bi-Annual Retreat

The Presidential CEO Forum (PCF), in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities (MTWA), hosted a Tourism Validation Workshop to review progress on the implementation of resolutions adopted during the 6th Bi-Annual Retreat (6th BAR).

The workshop brought together representatives from government, the private sector, tourism associations, academia, and development partners to assess achievements, identify implementation challenges, and validate the way forward for the tourism sector.

The workshop was chaired by Ms Doreen Katusiime, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities, who reaffirmed tourism's role as a strategic pillar under the ATMS (Agriculture, Tourism, Minerals, and Science & Technology) agenda and a key contributor to Uganda's Ten-Fold Growth Strategy.

Participants reviewed the progress made in implementing the resolutions agreed upon during the 6th Bi-Annual Retreat, highlighting key achievements, emerging challenges, and priority actions required to strengthen Uganda's tourism ecosystem. Discussions emphasised the importance of continued collaboration between government and the private sector to enhance destination competitiveness, attract investment, promote sustainable tourism, and increase the sector's contribution to national development.

The validation workshop reaffirmed the Presidential CEO Forum's commitment to tracking the implementation of retreat resolutions and facilitating continuous public-private dialogue to accelerate Uganda's socio-economic transformation.
